Acrobatics

When I was in elementary school, I took acrobatics. Those years were some of the best yet. I could feel and see myself getting stronger and graceful. I could dance for hours on the trapeze if I were allowed to. I discovered the different strengths of my body and pushed myself to the limit and over. I found a passion. An article on the Spinsterz puts the trapeze and it's mental health benefits perfectly, "...using the trapeze can instill a sense of freedom as you sail through the air, which for some can be relaxing, while others receive an adrenaline rush from this. Self-esteem can also be boosted through use of aerial silks and the trapeze, as in participating you are placing trust in yourself when working at a height and on mastering both skills there is a real sense of achievement." The best feeling in the world is flying because of your strength.

End of Year Dance Performance

I personally, am pumped to have another dance performance. They are my favorite type of performance and I have the least stage fright when I am dancing. I love them because I like the adrenaline rush and showing off to my family. I also like challenging myself mentally and physically. Tell me your opinion in my survey: here

Paul Taylor

Today I reserved my ticket from Ms. Farrell for the Paul Taylor dance company performance. I am super excited because modern dance is my favorite dance genre. I love watching the pure and raw expression that is expressed through beats and rhythm. It seems like an interesting company with intriguing costumes. Here are some examples:

Yoga and Running

I watched the marathon today and it reminded me of my goals for being more active on weekends. I have been wanting to go on runs with my dad in the mornings and do yoga on Sundays. This would make me stronger and more flexible in dance class. My only problem is that I never get around to doing anything because of all the homework I get. I think that this week I will finally achieve my goal.

Hair

I am thinking of cutting my hair. With my new glasses, I thought it would be kind of nice. It would definitely make my dance classes easier. I wouldn't have to put up my hair or worry about my ponytail smacking my eyeball when I pirouette or chaƮne turns (it has happened). These are some pictures that kind of express what I'm thinking of. I might have my hair cut and I might not. These aren't quite what I was thinking of, but they're close.

Mark Morris Dance Group

Today I might buy new ballet shoes and a bigger leotard for my dance class at Mark Morris Dance Group. Mark Morris is a famous dancer and choreographer. I am not in his professional company, so he has never worked with me. However, I have seen some of his rehearsals and costumes and they are all so beautiful. One that is still in progress has a tissue paper costume that lookalike fire and water. Next year I will be able to join the junior company.

Highly trained dancers come together to portray
simple and complex feelings.
This just one of his many dances.
